Mobile Poker from PokerStars Available in Italy
PokerStars.com has released a poker product designed especially for mobile phones and other mobile devices. The new poker application has been released only in Italy for now, where there is a very high usage of mobile devices. The new mobile poker application from PokerStars is free for players to download, and can easily be found on the Apple iTunes site. Those who wish to play mobile poker for real money with this application will have to fulfill certain criteria before they can do so. In order to play at the new PokerStars mobile poker site, players need to be residents in Italy, and need to be able to supply the online poker site with a verifiable physical address. In order through the mobile portal, players first need to make sure to open a real money account with the online PokerStars site. After this, players can play on their mobile devices. Players also need to hold registered accounts with iTunes in order to be able to make use of the free download. It has taken PokerStars two years to develop this mobile poker application that gives players many poker options, such as playing in poker tournaments or simply playing poker cash games. PokerStars has also released other applications this year, the PokerStars Clock and the PokerStars TV application. PokerStars.it is very popular in Italy, and can boast numbers of tournament players that are higher than the numbers of players at its competitors. In fact, the Italian PokerStars website has the distinction of being the seventh most popular online poker site in the world. This month, PokerStars is offering an incredible prize pool on 18th December 2011 in its Sunday Million promotion. The buy-in to the tournament is $215, and the online poker tournament has a guaranteed prize pool of $10 million, with the first prize winner taking home $2 million of that.

Global Poker Index: Sam Trickett Enters the Top 10
November 24 2011, Mickey Doft Related Articles Global Poker Index: Failla Cracks Top 10; Seidel’s Reign May Soon End Global Poker Index: Seidel Still On Top, Buchanan Cracks Top Ten Global Poker Index: Waxman Cracks Top 10, Seidel Still Leads Related Players Share It Tags Global Poker Index, Poker Rankings, Federated Sports + Gaming, Erik Seidel, Will Failla Print Each week, the Global Poker Index releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that accounts for a player’s results over six half-year periods. A new name entered the top 10 this week and he won’t be going anywhere for a while. For a look at the entire list of 300, visit the official GPI website. The Top 10 as of November 21, 2011 Rank Player Total Score Change in Rank from Last Week 1 Erik Seidel 2,560.94 0 2 Bertrand ElkY Grospellier 2,493.71 0 3 Jason Mercier 2,398.58 0 4 Eugene Katchalov 2,371.55 0 5 Shawn Buchanan 2,331.45 0 6 Sam Stein 2,178.26 +1 7 Sam Trickett 2,121.17 +6 8 Sorel Mizzi 2,107.57 -2 9 Fabrice Soulier 2,018.48 -1 10 Matt Waxman 2,003.46 -1 Sam Trickett cracked the top 10 this week, thanks to his victory at the 2011 Partouche Poker Tour Main Event that concluded last week. That first-place finish was Trickett’s third seven-figure score of the calender year, with the other two coming at the 2011 Aussie Millions. Making way for Trickett in the top 10 was Will “The Thrill” Failla, now on the outside looking in at No. 11. As we suggested last week, Erik Seidel’s score dipped a little due to an aging seven-figure score. Still, Seidel continues to hold down the fort at No. 1. Welcome to the GPI Only four players were new to this week’s GPI, led by Stephane Benadiba. Thanks to a 10th-place finish in the 3,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event at the 2011 Hold’em Series in Paris last week, Benadiba returned to the GPI in the No. 232 spot. New Additions Player Total GPI Score GPI Rank Stephane Benadiba 1,137.74 232nd Youcef Benzerfa 1,121.65 241st Kyle Loman 1,019.63 299th Kevin Vandersmissen 1,019.20 300th Falling from the GPI this week were Eric Baldwin, John O’Shea, Kenny Hicks, and Ruben Visser. Baldwin’s fall was the steepest, having been at No. 228 last week. His first-place finish in the 2010 NAPT LA Bounty Shootout last November fell from Period 2 to Period 3 and was also his last six-figure score. Ups and Downs The biggest rise of the week belonged to Cary Katz. Although he’s had no recent results, Katz had some extra scores to spare in his Period 1 results. A fourth-place finish in a $5,000 no-limit hold’em event at the Five Star World Poker Classic in May fell into Period 2, his only score that counts for that time period. Biggest Gains Rank Player Total Score Change in Rank From Last Week 36th Salman Behbehani 1,733.56 +22 63rd Allen Kessler 1,575.77 +14 91st Mustaphha Kanit 1,476.71 +9 134th Justin Bonomo 1,326.03 +67 139th Marc Inizan 1,311.59 +40 147th Ilan Boujenah 1,291.24 +35 148th Oleksii Kovalchuk 1,289.78 +50 210th Cary Katz 1,164.35 +89 233rd Dan Buzgon 1,136.62 +17 259th Paul Berende 1,080.54 +10 The biggest fall of the week belonged to Bernard Lee. Lee’s fifth-place finish in the 2010 Heartland Poker Tour Main Event at Soaring Eagle last November aged from Period 2 to Period 3. Biggest Drops Rank Player Total Score Change in Rank From Last Week 48th Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi 1,682.43 -22 87th Marvin Rettenmaier 1,495.76 -27 119th David Williams 1,365.66 -21 174th Per Linde 1,248.26 -23 178th Dominik Nitsche 1,241.16 -53 222nd Maria Ho 1,152.47 -39 226th Jean Thorel 1,147.45 -18 252nd Bernard Lee 1,101.10 -68 278th Matt Jarvis 1,058.90 -19 288th Men Nguyen 1,042.09 -35 What’s In Store? Former top 10 mainstay Juha Helppi, now No. 29, will see his GPI stock fall a bit further next week. His runner-up performance in the 10,000 High-Roller No-Limit Hold’em event at the 2011 EPT Barcelona will fall from Period 2 to Period 3. Helppi will still have two other six-figure score in his Period 2 results, but his score will still take a hit. Also, 2011 EPT Barcelona Main Event Champion Kent Lundmark will take a huge hit. Having earned seven figures for that victory, Lundmark does not have any six-figure cashes to his name. He does have several five-figure cashes, but it’s his big win that will define his GPI standing. Currently sitting in the No. 164 spot, we wouldn’t be surprised if Lundmark falls more than 100 places next week. To look at the entire list of 300, visit the official GPI website.
